The 10″ (factory length) Free Float Hand guard for the M&P 15-22 is engineered to fit tightly against the receiver, which eliminates the gap between the receiver and the rail and any rotation.
Features a top Picatinny rail at the front and rear of the hand guard that’s split to reduce weight and M-LOK accessory slots.
- Barrel nut included (made specifically for the 15-22….no adapter needed)
- Black hard-coat anodized finish to MIL-SPEC Type III

Product Description
The included proprietary barrel nut for this S&W M&P15-22 free float handguard fits the following Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 models:
- S&W M&P15-22 Gen 1
- S&W M&P15-22 Gen 2
- S&W M&P15-22 Sport
- Performance Center S&W M&P15-22 Sport
- S&W M&P15-22 Pistol
The barrel nut can be installed with our 15-22 Barrel Nut Wrench or 1-1/4 open end wrench.
S&W M&P15-22 Free Float Handguard Features
- Ultra-lightweight, heavy-duty, T6 aluminum body.
- Anti-rotation built into the handguard.
- Magpul M-LOK modular locking accessory mounting system.
- Top Picatinny rail at the front and rear of the handguard.
- Barrel nut included.
- Handguard slides over barrel nut and is secured against the receiver using 3 screws and a special keeper.

Congratulations and thank you for purchasing a new 15-22 Free Float Hand Guard.
Follow all safety and clearing protocols for you rifle.
Assuming the factory barrel nut and the hand guard are removed and the barrel is in the upper receiver.
Install the new barrel nut on your barrel threads.
No thread locker on the barrel threads.
Start the converter with your fingers, no tools yet.
After it is difficult to hand tighten (it should almost touch the indexing tabs on the receiver) Clamp the barrel firmly in barrel vise jaws. Do NOT hold the upper. (You can damage the internals)
Use the 15-22 barrel nut wrench you used to remove the factory barrel nut to torque the nut to S&W specifications (around 20 Ft. Lbs) The specifications are currently only available from S&W.

Loosen the vise and remove the rifle
Install your hand guard;
Slide the hand guard over the barrel nut with no hardware in any of the holes.
Make sure the Picatinny rail is lined up with the Picatinny rail on your upper.
The anti-rotation notches will fit very close to the outside of your upper, so have them lined up the best you are able.
Push down until the face of the rails touch each other and the gap is gone or is as small as possible.
Install the heart shaped keeper nut with the “pin” in.
Install all 3 screws and tighten to 25-30 INCH pounds with a 5/32 Hex
