Product Description
This “Modified” version requires permanent modification of your upper. The bottom handguard alignment tab needs to be removed and the top handguard alignment tab needs to be almost completely removed.
The back of the free float hand guard or delta ring barrel nut will almost touch the bottom portion and be .1 inch or 2.5mm away from the top part.

Now your Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 handguard can match the look and feel of your existing AR platform. This is a threaded adapter that converts your “non-removable” handguard to any standard threaded AR-style handguard.
Note: This is the adapter only, not the flash hider or handguard or AR Delta ring if you are going for the two piece hand guard.
This high-quality engineered item fits perfectly on your Smith & Wesson M&P15-22. It has the added benefit of being a heat-sink. It helps pull the damaging heat away from the chamber and feed throat area into your aluminum handguard, and out to the atmosphere, maximizing consistency.
Turned on state-of-the-art CNC turning centers from 6061 T6 billet aluminum, and protected with a black hard coat anodized finish. Anodized to Type III Mil-Spec for a long service life. Our military items are anodized at the same facility at the same time, and are 100% designed, developed, and manufactured in the USA.
You will need the M&P15-22 Barrel Nut Wrench to remove the factory barrel nut.

Follow all safety and clearing protocols for you rifle.
Assuming the barrel nut and the hand guard are removed and the barrel is in the upper receiver.
If you purchased the standard converter (1/4” gap) no modifications are needed.
If you purchased the modified converter (3/32” gap) you will need to remove all of the bottom indexing tab and most (or all if you will never reinstall the factory hand guard) of the top indexing tab.
Install the adapter in your hand guard to ensure they fit together properly. The smaller diameter goes into the hand guard. The face of the larger diameter should be almost flush with the end of the hand guard. Hand tight should be just fine. Do not over tighten, as they will be difficult to separate.
If everything looks good, then;
No thread locker on the barrel threads.
Install the converter with the larger diameter end towards the receiver.
Start the converter with your fingers, no tools yet.
After it is difficult to hand tighten, screw on the AR-15 barrel nut.
Torque the nut to S&W specifications (around 20 Ft. Lbs)
With your wrench at 12:00 turn to 2:00

Install your hand guard following the manufacturers’ instructions. The torque they specify is ONLY for the AR15/M16. And you do not need to line up a vent tube hole.
Do not use any thread lock.
